You Bring Out That Side Of Me

I sat on the cold sand as the light winter breeze gently teased the hair falling out of my ponytail. The ocean looked endless as it merged into the horizon in a distant world. Surrounded by darkness, the only source of light was coming from the headlights of my car which was parked a few feet away and the ship-like lights which stood far in the water. I closed my eyes and tried to not feel the cold as my body shivered. Breathe in. Breathe out. Focus on my breath. Listen to the sound of the waves hitting against the shore and washing backwards. A wave at a time. I think we sat there for about 10 minutes but it felt so much longer. It felt like I released all the worries in my mind in that endless period and let them go with the waves into the vast ocean. A worry at a time. That is what should be done with worries. Just let them go. They are just a small part of the many thoughts in your mind. Breathe in. Breathe out. Focus on the good. Let the worries be washed away and sink into the far end of the ocean where it merges into the horizon in a distant world.
